Connersville, located in the heart of Fayette County, Indiana, is a city steeped in history. Established in 1813 by John Conner, it is one of the oldest cities in Indiana and has served as the county seat since its founding. With a population of 13,324 as of the 2020 census, Connersville is a rural hub for the surrounding areas. While the local economy has faced challenges, including population and employment decline since the 1960s, the city remains a cornerstone of east-central Indiana, providing vital services in manufacturing, retail, and healthcare.
Amidst these changes, Whitewater Valley Arts Association (WVAA) has been a beacon of creativity and community connection since its founding in 1962. As a non-profit organization, WVAA is dedicated to fostering an appreciation for the arts in the region. Bringing together art-minded citizens, professionals, amateurs, patrons, and anyone interested in the cultural enrichment of Connersville and beyond, the Association offers opportunities for the public to engage with, experience, and recognize the value of the arts in everyday life. Through exhibitions, workshops, partnerships, and community outreach, Whitewater Valley Arts Association continues to play a pivotal role in enriching Connersville's cultural landscape, proving that art is not only a means of creative expression but also a powerful tool for community transformation and connection.

About Connersville and
Whitewater Valley Arts Association
Whitewater Valley Arts Association Mystery Mural:
Installed in Connersville, Indiana, on June 18, 2013, this collaborative mural unites artists and residents in celebrating the city’s history and creative spirit. A symbol of unity, it showcases art’s power to connect, tell stories, and transform public spaces.
A historic Connersville photo was enhanced, colorized and then divided into forty five squares. Members of the Art Association were given a square and asked to enlarge each square on a two foot square panel. The panels were then assembled into this giant mural.
The artists were not told what the photo was, where it was taken, or when it was taken.
